This shirt is inspired by glyph U-Ti-Ya, which can be found frequently on Maya stelaes, as these mostly depicted the youthful deeds of the rulers in the past.
Each product in our collection is inspired by the intricate art, iconic sculptures and symbols drawn by ancient mayan artists with our own modern and unique touch. This product is distinctive and lively, as it represents the beauty of the ancient culture in a stylish manner.
HISTORY:
Learning the mayan language is not an easy task because it has especially strict set of rules.
Unfortunately, when the Spanish conquistadors found the mayan books and codices, they believed they were evil and burned them all.
Only a few survived that helped the researchers to decipher the glyphs and understand the language.
The character U-Ti-Ya represents anterior events, meaning “since it happened” or “it had happened.”
In hieroglyphic inscriptions, this verb is included in glyphic expressions for birth, capture, acts of holding ritual events, making offerings, and the dedication of buildings and monuments.
